Joanna is the author of “k.d. lang’s Ingénue" for Bloomsbury’s 33 1/3 series. She is also an assistant professor of English at CUNY Kingsborough in Brooklyn, NY, where she teaches creative writing, literature, and composition.

Her work has appeared in Norton's "Short Takes: Brief Encounters with Contemporary Nonfiction," BUST, LGBTQ Nation, The Brooklyn Rail, PopMatters, and the satirical Hard Times.
