I write memoir and essays - particularly about the intersection of music and gender - and illustrate in a whimsical, photorealistic, freehand style.

For a decade, I have worked as a lecturer of English at CUNY Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, NY. I hold an B.F.A. in Theater from State University of New York, College at Fredonia (1999), an M.A. in English from State University of New York, College at Brockport (2004) & an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Pacific Lutheran University’s Rainier Writing Workshop (2008).

During undergraduate studies, I wrote and directed two original plays for the Performing Arts Company at SUNY Fredonia. While in graduate school, I self-published an illustrated zine called Oo*Ah (pronounced “Ooh, Ahh”), which garnered attention from fellow classmates and faculty. My first essay “Clean Slate” was accepted during my time at Brockport & later published in Short Takes: Brief Encounters with Contemporary Nonfiction (Norton, 2005).

In 2005, I moved to San Francisco for three years, where I worked as a proofreader/ photo desk editor for a newswire service (while freelance writing & earning an M.F.A. on the side).

In 2008, I moved back to the East Coast & have lived and worked in Brooklyn for the past ten years.
