Joanna McNaney Stein is the author of “k.d. lang’s Ingénue" for Bloomsbury’s 33 1/3 series. She is also an assistant professor of English at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, NY, where she teaches creative writing, literature, and composition.

Her work has appeared in Norton's Short Takes: Brief Encounters with Contemporary Nonfiction, BUST, LGBTQ Nation, The Brooklyn Rail, PopMatters, and the satirical Hard Times.
